We saw this place by chance, we were driving along the R284 west of Keadew and thought to have a break on the shore of Lough Meelagh, when we saw the signpost to the tomb. So off we went along the woods walk.
The tomb is very nice and rather well kept. The court is still visible on the southeast (130°) side of the monument where several stones, reducing in height from the entrance to the extremes, form a perfect semi-circular structure. The two burial chambers are to the northwest, though about 2 metres worth of the side walls are now missing.
The whole tomb is about 13 metres long, of which 8.20 metres are for the burial gallery. The gallery is about 1.70 metres wide, the court is about 4.60 metres wide.
The site is quiet and relaxing, and the visit can be concluded along the woods path that runs in a loop back to the car park. On the lake, a crannóg can be seen from the car park.
