This bullaun stone is not far from the St. Kevin's church, and it could go quite unnoticed... at least I missed it during my previous visits.
It is also known with the name of Deer Stone.
The legend has it that one of the men who was working at the building of the monastery came to St. Kevin's because his wife had died giving birth to his son. The workman asked St. Kevin's for help in feeding this poor infant. So Kevin prayed for having help from above. His prayers were granted and every morning a doe would come the monastery and would leave some milk in the hollow of this stone for the baby, and the hollow would never run dry.
I think that a distortion of the word "doe" gave the stone the name "deer".
