The Ullard high cross is right behind the Ullard church, next to the enclosure that looks like a squash court. Just like the church, we already visited this cross on September 26th, 2003.
It's a 9th century high cross, partly restored, with a solid wheel on its head.
It faces southeast 120°, it's 2.85 metres tall, 45 centimetres wide, 33 centimetres thick, with the arms being 1.20 metres wide. The orientation of the cross is unusual. All the crosses should be facing like the churches are, east-west. This high cross was very likely re-erected, and it was done wrongly.
On its head there is the scene of the crucifixion of Christ, surrounded by four more scenes that are David playing the harp to the left, two figures on the top, the sacrifice of Isaac to the right and Adam and Eve below.
The middle section of the shaft is of a different and darker material and is clearly a reconstruction. The lower part of the shaft is still of a different stone, and depicts the six Apostles.
The high cross stands on a base that measures 100 centimetres by 80 centimetres on the sides and 96 centimetres of height. Maybe it could have had some decorations. If it ever had them, now they're gone and the base is rather plain.
