The spiral stairs is visible in right corner of the photo. On the walls there's a fresco of the crucifixion. Maybe that room was the chapel inside the castle.

This tower house was home of the Shortall family, and it was built in 15th or 16th century.
Clara Castle is one of the finest tower houses still surviving in Ireland. Inside floors are impassable, only some main beams are in their places, but there are no boards. There is a 63-step spiral staircase leading to the upper rooms.
