In the tiny village of Dungarvan, co. Kilkenny, behind a modern church, there are the ruins of an old church in which churchyard, among the other graves, you can see this beautiful grave slab. It was part of an altar tomb and the effigies of Donald McPierce Archdekin and his wife Catherine Blanchville can be seen on it. This tomb dates from 1581.
Four metres north of this tomb there's another beautiful but broken grave slab with a nice knightly carving.
UPDATE: June 7th, 2016 - We were in the area and decided to visit this place again. This time I took my time to have a better look around the place.
Luckily no further damages have been made to the slab. What I saw this time are the decorations on the side slabs of the tomb.
I also had a look to the old church nearby with its crenellated tower to the west. All doors and windows have been walled up except the doorway on the north side of the tower which has a locked gate. Behind the gate we saw a huge heap of bird droppings!
Above this doorway a plaque reads "Glory to GOD in the highest and on Earth Peace Good will toward Men" and at the bottom "Luke Chapter 2 Verse 14". There's a plaque on the west wall of the tower as well, but the inscription is more weathered.
