We already came here in May 2006 to see the saint's grave, the church and the holy well. Only few months later we found out that a sheela-na-gig is in this place, so we had to come back.
This small and worn out sheela-na-gig is above the south window of the ruined Catholic church. It's 2.60 metres from the ground, it is only 20 centimetres tall and is slightly inclinated to the left at an angle of 20°.
Actually it doesn't look like a usual sheela-na-gig. The carving depicts a female figure, but it hasn't the typical feature of other sheelas. Her face is simple, it doesn't have a grin or a scaring aspect. Her torso doesn't show any ribs and her hands are just covering her pubes rather than exposing her genitalia. Actually it looks like she's wearing a robe. The figure has no legs and stands in a hollow of the window lintel instead of a more common stand-alone stone tile in the masonry.
