This huge and strangely shaped ogham stone is on the border of an army firing range. The road that goes to the stone ends in front of a gate with a sentry-box and soldier who stopped us and asked the reason we were there for. We told him about the ogham stone and showed him on the map that the stone was a few metres outside the military property, but he had to call the supervisor who granted us to go to the stone for 15 minutes only.
The stone is huge and almost fan-shaped and stands in a clearing in a pine plantation. It's 2.25 metres tall, 1 metre wide at the base and a little less than 2 metres at the widest point, it's 62 centimetres thick. It seems that a big piece of it broke in the past and now it lies in the grass on the west side of the ogham stone.
The ogham inscription is on the northeast corner. A strange and curious plastic white and orange bag or sack was put on the ground on the south side of the stone. The use of it was unknown to me.
At the end of our visit we thanked the soldier who looked a little more relaxed when we went away.
