A view of the ground floor from the roof!

The Rathmacknee castle is a tower house in a fair good state of preservation.
On the east wall there is the sign of the Fógra and the informative sign.
This castle was built by John Rosseter around 1450 and is one of the best kept tower houses in all Ireland.
Adjoining the tower house there's a modern dwelling where I rang to get the permission, and the key, to visit inside the tower. The key was given to me for free, but the optional informative leaflet cost 2 euro.
Once I opened the door I went up a 18-step staircase to the first floor. Then another staircase with 27 steps to reach the roof. All the floors are missing but it's possible to walk along the roof on a narrow wall-walk, if you have head for heights and plenty of guts.
