There are very few ogham stones in Northern Ireland, and only one in county Tyrone, this one.
It's on a private land, but a stile is provided in the fence and a dirt path leads down to it.
Like many other ogham stones, originally it was a standing stone. The ogham inscription was added several centuries later, likely before 500 AD.
The ogham stone stands on a low mound of stones. It seems that the main stone had fallen and had been re-erected later on this mound.
The ogham inscription is on the east (90°) edge of the stone and it reads "DOTETTO MAQI MAGLANI", though most of the signs are very faint now.
The stone is 1.25 metres tall, 57 centimetres wide and 45 centimetres thick.
About 125 west-northwest from here is Aghascrebagh standing stone and across the valley to the northeast is Dun Ruadh.
