These effigies have a connection with another page in this website, the Coughlanstown West church that is about 5 km from here, because one of the persons represented in the effigy on the slab is Rowland FitzEustace of Harristown, nominated Baron Portlester in 1462 by king Edward IV of England, who died in 1496. The other figure is of his third wife Margaret D'Artois. They are both buried in this graveyard, along with his daughter Alison, Countess of Kildare, who died in 1495, and his nephew Thomas Eustace, Viscount Baltinglass, who died in 1549.
The effigy once was lying on the ground, but in 2001 it was placed vertically and protected under an arch to preserve it from the elements.
It's 2.20 metres high and 1 metre wide.
