At Greenhill there are two beautiful ogham stones. One is now along a boundary hedge between two fields, the other one is free standing in the next field. It wasn't easy to find them, no signposts tell visitors where they are, and weren't it for a kind man who phoned around to have directions, we would have never found them.
The free standing ogham stone is in a field with its own stile, and is protected by a complete cattle grid. The ogham inscription is on the southeast (145°) edge and reads "TRENU MAQI MUCI QRITTI" (TRENU descendant of QRITTI).
The excavations around the stone to install the protective cattle grid didn't reveal any graves or other finds.
This ogham stone is 2.53 metres tall, 74 centimetres wide and 38 centimetres thick at the base. The stone tapers to the top and leans towards the northeast (60°) by 15°.
Greenhill stone north is 40 metres north from this one, along a boundary hedge.
