Moyne Castle is a square building, with an extension to the northwest side, standing on the right bank of the Black River, which marks the border between counties Mayo and Galway.

The castle dates from the 16th century.
David MacJonyn (Jennings) Blake is accredited as the owner of the castle in 1574. In 1585 Ulick, Earl of Clanricarde, confiscated it. In 1610 Richard, who was Ulick's successor, received a new grant for the castle, and four quarters of land.
In 1678 the castle was occupied by George French, and in 1683 Thomas Blake got it on lease from William, Earl of Clanricarde. The Blake family retained Moyne castle until 1731, when they moved to Merlin Park.

The castle has a doorway in the southwest (210°) wall. A staircase is within the southeast wall of the castle. The first 10 steps are on a linear staircase, then it gets spiral for the next 14 steps, where they eventually end.
There's a residential range on the northeast side of the keep. And a square tower, not accessible, is on the northwest corner.

The castle isn't marked on the OS Map.
