A photo taken on May 18th, 2006, when we didn't stop at this castle. The trees have grown up a lot in 13 years.

I had taken a photo of this castle several years ago, it was on May 18th, 2006, from the road and without investigating it further.

It's a five-storey tower house on a rocky outcrop, built by Conchobhar na Srona Ó Briain, who died in 1470.

As far as I could see, I found no doorway, but since I could only see three sides of the tower house, I guess the entrance is in the northeast (65°) wall, where the vegetation is thicker. There's a staircase in the southeast (110°) corner.

Apparently the castle has been lived in until a few decades ago.

The castle appears in the first minutes of the movie "Guns in the Heather" (1969), by Robert Butler, as a background monument during a car chase scene.
