This monastic site was founded by St. Colmcille, but was built by St. Cuanna, after whom the place is named. Today only the ruins of a church and the low stump of a round tower are visible.
The stump is about 2.40 metres tall and most of it is overgrown with vegetation, only the west part is free from the ivy. The blocks of stones at the lowest level are massive and perfectly cut. It is possible to notice how some of them were dressed to fit the next ones. The tower has also a double step plinth.
Of the church, which is a long and narrow building, only the south and north walls remain, though they are in sad conditions with only a short segment of the south wall to its full height. The building is aligned to the east-southeast (110°)
Some interesting headstones and a small mausoleum can be seen in the graveyard.
