The murder hole above the doorway.

This tower house stands next to a railway. The ancient and the modern within a few metres. It's far in a private field. Make sure to seek permission before walking to the ruins.

The castle was built by the De Burgo family, but it seems that they sold it after a short time to the ffrench family.

It has a doorway in the northeast (45°) wall. This doorway leads to a hallway with a staircase on the right-hand side and a main hall straight ahead.
On the first floor, after nine steps of the staircase, right above the doorway, there's a murder hole.
The most fascinating space of all the castle is the room on the floor above. It has all the spirit of a medieval dwelling, with arches, staircases, windows.

The staircase has 13 more steps before interrupting.
