I never featured any Bullaun Stone in my website, but in this case I am making an exception because of the singularity of the stone.
It is set into a traffic island at a T-junction along the R670.
The small traffic island is diamond shaped and in the centre of it there's this small bullaun stone with two hollows about 15 centimetres in diameter. The stone measures about 40 centimetres by 50 centimetres and someone has painted its surface in green.
Bullaun stones with two hollows are said to be such because a saint kneeled in prayer on them.
So, if this stone carries the marks of St. Patrick's knees, why has it been set into a traffic island where every tractor or truck can run over it?
