According to the OS Map this was a holy well with cross slabs. As a matter of fact there are slabs with incised crosses but they are those typical slabs where pilgrims and visitors carve their own cross with a pebble.
The holy well is a stone shrine with a statue of Our Lady in it, a small altar on a side and two plaques with a prayer and a description of rites held here. The second plaque also informs visitors that the altar was erected in the autumn 1994 and the shrine was opened and blessed on May 17th, 1998.
It's under the east slope of the Skellig Cliffs, on the Skellig Ring road that has a slope of nearly 10° down towards Portmagee!
