Haynestown Castle is a three-storey tower house with a square plan and four massive circular corner turrets. It is thought to be from the 16th century.
Unfortunately the castle is a bit overgrown and surrounded by vegetation. The turrets on the west (260°) side look a little more massive than the pair on the east side. On this side an arched doorway has been walled up, I don't know whether this was the main doorway. There are narrow windows in the turrets. The pairs of turrets are connected between them by arches at the roof level on the west and east sides.
The castles stands south of the St. Paul's Church of Ireland church in the parish of Haynestown. This church was built in 1803 and dedicated to St. Nicholas, but when it was remodelled in 1827 its dedication was changed.
