According to the sign, this is a hard to classify prehistoric site. It may be classified as a portal tomb because of the two upright stones, but they stand at the end of the chamber, not at the entrance. It may be a kist, but the orthostats flanking the western side of the tomb say this is not the case.
It may be a transition monument between two eras, the Neolithic period, with its complex constructions, and the Bronze Age whose monuments were simpler.
The tomb stands on a small mound in the middle of a field, 55 metres east from the gate. The mound, maybe the original cairn of the monument, has a diameter of 13 metres. The tomb itself is 2.70 metres long, 2 metres wide and 1 metre tall. It faces east-southeast (100°).
