The ruins of this church date from 11th or 12th century and include parts of buildings built in two different periods. There's also a mortuary house that it said to contain the relics of St. Muiredach O'Heney.
There aren't records about the end of use of this church, but it's known that it was ruined by 1622. Right outside the graveyard there's a building known as the Residence, and it was used as a secure accommodation for the priests and their belongings. There was a door on the first floor probably accessed through a ladder. Behind the church there's a small and rough cross. Another cross is along the road to the northwest and they are the only two crosses remaining from a five-cross set that used to mark the boundary of the townland at that time.
Right outside the church wall, next to the Residence, there's a bullaun stone.
