This holy well is protected by kind of a beehive hut above it with a lintelled entrance facing northeast (30°). The well is at a lower level than the surrounding ground and a 12-step staircase from the southeast (150°) leads to a small platform paved with stones. Three more steps go down to the water which is rather clear. Two tin cups with a long handle are provided for visitors. Behind the well a laurel tree has been turned into the usual rag-tree.
The weather turned to miserable as soon as we arrived at the place, the rain was really heavy and we had to wait for an hour before we were able to get out of the car. The strange thing was that it was raining only over us and all around was clear and sunny. Stunning views from up here!
A few metres southwest from the holy well is the Faughart Hill church.
