The St. Kevin's church at Glendalough is one of few churches in Ireland with a stone roof. This is a particurarly steep roof, made by overlapping stone slabs, and supported by a vaulted ceiling. The ceiling has a small rectangular opening that gave access to a chamber under the roof. The nave also had a timber first floor, the walls still retain the marks of its past existence.
Originally this was a nave-only church, with the entrance and a round belfry to the west, and a narrow and rounded window high in the east gable. The belfry has a conical cap with four windows right under the cap, and it looks like a chimney, hence this church is also known as the Kevin's Kitchen.
A chancel and a sacristy were added later. The sacristy is still visible adjoining the church, but the chancel has disappeared and only the outline of the foundations and a scar on the east gable can be seen today.
To the north of this small church there's a small and simple stone cross. The measures of this cross are 70 centimetres in height, 33 centimetres in width and 11 centimetres in thickness.
The church is aligned to the east-northeast (115°).
