This is the site of an early ecclesiastical settlement probably dating to the 7th century when St. Fiachrius was abbot.
There are the remains of a medieval church almost completely overgrown by ivy. Next to it is a 10 metres by 4.50 metres stone plinth that houses a large number of medieval grave slabs, 15 lying flat, 9 standing upright.
One of these is the slab from the grave of Godfrey O'Donnell, king of Tir Conaill, who engaged a battle against Maurice Fitzgerald, the Norman Lord, at Credan in North Sligo in 1257 in which both received finally fatal wounds. Godfrey O'Donnell died in 1258 and was buried here.
