In the Roscommon Town Museum inside the Tourist Office is a nice sheela-na-gig.
The figure is carved on what once was the keystone of an archway in some building. The figure depicts a nice looking woman, for a change, with a round face and a prominent nose. Two long braids frame the whole figure down to her elbows. Her breast is faintly visible and there aren't the usual ribs exposed.
The figure has her legs bent to an angle with her feet pointing outwards to the edge of the stone, her arms and hands reach for her vulva from behind. Her navel appears as a circle in the centre of her belly.
The stone is 44 centimetres high and 38 centimetres wide at the widest point.
The figure is 34 centimetres high and 16.5 centimetres at the elbows.
