This building might have been a tower house, but today it's in ruins.
The only surviving parts are the southwest and the southeast walls.
This was the castle built by Sir Pierce Bermingham in the 13th century and it's the site of the O’Connor massacre. The elevated position of Carrick castle would have allowed an advantaged point of view, and it was a strong means of defence.
About 50 metres southeast from this castle there are the ruins of a church with the same name.
