This tomb is outside the area of the main group of tombs near the visitors' centre and is in a private field beside the road.
It's the second largest tomb of all in the area of Carrowmore after Listoghil. It's a circle of 47 kerb stones over a diameter of about 18 metres. Just like the Tomb 26 and Tomb 27 it stands on an artificial flat mound. Inside the circle there are some stones lying flat on the ground and these are the evidence of a central construction, a passage tomb. Excavations of the site discovered many fragments of bones, both human and animal. To west the Knocknarea and Listoghil are visible, the Benbulben is to north.
We visited this site for the first time on May 4th, 1997.
