The corbelled machiculation at the roof level on the northeast side.

The castle is a three-storey tower house in the Strangford village and it overlooks the harbour. It was probably built in the 15th century but was heavily remodeled in the 16th century.
On the northeast wall there are the entrance door and a corbelled machicolation.
The Strangford castle is classified as a historic monument and is under the care of the State.

UPDATE: June 7th, 2011 - We visited this castle again and took some new photographs. The first two photos in this page are from the 2009 visit.
