The Craddockstown standing stone is a huge, smooth and almost conical orthostat in the middle of a field in front of the Punchestown race courses.
The fact that it is in the middle of a field is a problem, because the crop could stop the visit to the stone.
When we visited the place, the crop was pretty high. We followed the tractor tracks that led us up to 7 metres from the stone. Then we had to tip-toe to get closer to this giant monolith.
It's 4.10 metres tall, 1.25 metres wide at the base and 80 centimetres thick, and it leans to the south by 8°.
As I said, it tapers towards the top and looked from the ground up it looks like a pyramid.
