This round tower is visible from a great distance, its height is about 23 metres and at the base it has a diameter of about 4.30 metres. Actually it's one of the tallest round towers in Ireland and it's still in good conditions. The roof is missing, though. The doorway is 3.30 metres from the ground and faces northeast (60°). The doorway appears to be defaced because the masonry around it is missing. The access is blocked by a padlock. East from the tower are the ruins of a church and inside it there's the wonderful Grangefertagh altar tomb with a beautiful double effigy. The first time we came here was on May 17th, 2000, and we were welcomed by a wonderful white horse. He was still here this time too, he must be old now. We also came here on September 27th, 2003.
