The Tacumshane Windmill isn't a "Weird thing", but sure it is an unusual feature. We came here on September 26th, 2003, for the first time. It seems that nothing has changed here around since. This is one of the three windmills of this kind, known as "Tower Mill", still existing in Ireland. It was built in 1846 by Nicholas Moran and it was rethatched in 1908. It was in use until 1936 and was recontructed in 1952. The mill has a long steel arm with a wheel at its end on the opposite side of the sails, so the mill could be turned in favour of the wind. The diameter of the mill at the base is about 6.90 metres.
