It is said that St. Declan would come over here to pray. The well was used as a baptismal font by the early missionaries. Today the well is housed in a stone structure with two openings that face east (80°). Two very old carved crosses top the structure, one of the two represents the crucifixion of Christ, the other one could be of one of the two thieves who were crucified along with him. So it seems that a third carved cross was there, but now it is missing, lost during the past centuries. The holy well stands at the west end of the old St. Declan's church.
