Lost in the bogland to the northwest of Lough Derg there's this fine portal tomb overlooking the lake and Inis Cealtra. We walked along a dirt track for 10 minutes after leaving the car at the end of a muddy lane.
The tomb is made of four stones, two of them are lying on the ground, one is upright and props the capstone. It's likely that the two fallen stones were the portal stones, and that the upright stone was the back stone of the burial chamber. There's a small stone about 30 centimetres to the northeast, probably a stone of the kerb.
In the distance, to the north-northwest, there's a single stone aligned with the dolmen.
The tomb is 1.25 metres tall, 2.40 metres wide and 2 metres long.
