The slab who reads "Tobar Mochua agus Mocholmog".

This holy well is perfectly concealed into a tall hedge along the B3. Visiting the place and taking photos of it can be extremely dangerous because there's no safety room between the visitors and the cars that travel on that rather busy road.
A stone slab among the branches and an iron gate with the name on the archway indicate the presence of the well which has a vaulted roof above the water. Four steps go down to the well itself, which is protected by a hand-railing all around. There's a small shrine on the highest point of the roof, and a dry-stone wall, built in 1936, encloses the semi-circular area. Items from devotees are on the enclosing wall or hang from the usual rag-trees.
St. Mochua was a 6th century saint, and it is said that he founded a church here. The exact spot for the building was revealed to him by the falling of the clapper of his bell.
The water of this well is said to cure eye ailments.
A convenient parking spot is provided across the road. It is also possible to visit the Derrynoose Old Graveyard.
