We've been dreaming of seeing this place for years. We tried to visit this site four years before, but the terrible weather conditions stopped us because the land where this stone circle stands on was a complete quagmire and it was impossible to walk safely. We hadn't the chance to come back since.
The excitement we felt for seeing this site can only be compared to the emotions we had when we visited Stonehenge in England.
The circle is fantastic and its position between the Lough Inchiquin to the south and Cloonee Lough Upper to the north is just perfect!
We walked for 300 metres from the car up the low hill and then got down on the other side of this hill to the monument. The stone circle is made of 5 stones, all of them in upright position, arranged over a diameter of 2.50 metres. Their height ranges from 70 to 80 centimetres. At 1 metres west-southwest (250°) from the circle is a standing stone, about 3 metres tall and 1.50 metres wide. On the east side of the stone circle one stone seems to be missing and a gap opens the series of the arrangement.
The surrounding landscape shows no sign of human life or intervention apart from the unpaved road that leads up here.
