Probably this is the oldest round tower we ever saw! It seems it dates to the 6th or 7th century and it was part of a monastery founded here by St. Colmcille in the 6th century. The monastery survived until 1595 when it was destroyed by the English troops. The tower has three internal floors, two of which are below the ground level. It's only 13 metres tall and it's the only round tower in county Donegal. Its doorway faces east-southeast (100°).
