Much has changed since our past two visits to this place. When we first came here on May 2nd, 1997 and even when we came here again on May 7th, 2002 this place was a very beautiful place. Now it's all covered in tarmac, almost unrecognizable! We couldn't believe it! This rocky outcrop was chosen by the O'Donnell clan to inaugurate their chieftains, a ceremony that was earlier taken at the abbey in Kilmacrennan. From 1200 to 1603, from Eigneachan to Niall Carbh, 25 chieftains were inaugurated at this place. Now, with all that tarmac, that sense of history and legend has faded away forever! All that we could see was a bronze plaque on a concrete block and a timber bench. How aweful! Sadly we didn't take any photo of the place in the past, so I can't show how this place has changed for the worse.
