Seen from the east.

About 200 metres northeast from Durrow High Cross there's the St. Colmcille's Holy Well.
Next to the church where the cross is, a protected footpath departs to the north, but the area around the well is a marsh, the ground is very soft and seems a wet sponge. Every step pushes water out of the ground surface, and getting close to the well is a very hard task!
The well is a large pool of water flush with the ground with a big house made of rocks over it. It seems that along with rocks, fragments of a religious building have been used too. An arched entrance is in the northeast (40°) side. Above the arched opening there's a large plaque with an inscription which is too weathered to be read easily, but it carries the name of the holy well and the date 1550.
The water is dark and dirty.
