Seen from the southwest.

South of Rathkeale, in the townland of Ballyallinan, there's a small hidden enclosure with the ruins of an old church and a holy well.
This church is known as Ballyallinan church, or the church of Beinid or St Bernard's church. The small church, which is 5.90 metres long and 4.55 metres wide, is in rather good condition, although it appears that it has been restored in the recent years. The walls are 60 centimetres thick, so the inner dimensions are rather small. There's a narrow east-southeast (100°) window with a wide splay. The doorway is tall and wide and has a slightly pointed arch.
A small recess, or ambry, is in the south wall.
At the centre of the building is a stone and mortar altar with a marble plaque which reads "Pray for the soul of John Keating whose family donated this well and its surrounds in his memory".
People attend a Mass here on August 20th, St. Bernard's feast day.

The well is about 40 metres southwest from the church.
