Nearly nothing remains of this tower house, that originally might have been higher than the 3 storeys that we see today.
The castle had been reported already in ruins at the end of the 18th century.
The only walls still remaining are those on the west and north sides. The south and east walls survive in part. The castle measures about 9.40 metres along the east and west walls, and 5.50 metres along the north and south walls. Within the south wall a mural staircase can be seen. A garderobe, or toilet, was in the southwest corner of the building.
The ivy has taken over the remains an all sides but the south segment of wall.
The castle was built in the 15th century by the O'Hara family, which was a prominent clan in this area of the county.
