The beautiful round tower from the northeast.

This elegant round tower stands in the town of Clondalkin, on the Tower Road, not far from the shopping centre.
This tower is over 27 metres tall and still retains its original roof. The doorway of this tower faces east (80°) and it's reached by an external stone staircase.
The round tower stands on the site of an earlier monastery founded by St. Cronan or Mochua in the 7th century and that was plundered by the Vikings in 832 and finally burned and destroyed in 1071.
