We had some difficult finding this holy well. We knew it was in the parish cemetery, but nearly nobody in the town of Monivea knew where the place was.
The site is peaceful and relaxing.
The holy well is enclosed in a square stone enclosure, which, in turn is enclosed in a horseshoe shaped earthbank, lined by a few trees.
The stone enclosure has an opening in the south-southwest (205°) side, the water is opposite the entrance.
In the wall to the east-southeast (115°), there's a stone slab 71 centimetres high and 49 centimetres wide, with the effigy of St. Patrick, to whom the well is dedicated.
An inscription reads:
"Pray for Fa(ther) Thomas Kiegery who made this image in remembrance"
Under the right hand of the saint the date is "1688".
