This roofless church just on the roadside on the R859 southwest of Limerick is dedicated to St. Nessan who founded a monastic site at Mungret in the 6th century.
It was built in the late 11th to the early 12th century, and was most likely the heart of the monastic site.
It's a single cell church with a steep roof. It measures 12.34 metres of length and 6.91 metres of width.
The doorway in the west wall is typical of Irish churches, with a lintel and two slightly sloping jambs.
The east (90°) window is small and round-headed. There are two small windows in the south wall.
