In the Main street of Duleek is a monument more like a pillar than a cross. This cross is known as Dowdall cross, erected by Dame Jennet Dowdall in 1601 as a memorial to her first husband, William Bathe, who died in October 1599. The shaft bears the shield and coat of arms of the Bathe and Dowdall families.
The cross was repaired in 1810, and is part of a series of crosses erected by Jennet Dowdall in memory of Bathe.
The cross is 2.43 metres tall above the pedestal, 43 centimetres wide and 24 centimetres thick. The side with the inscription faces southwest (235°).
