A view from the north.

This fort has an oval shape and stands on the highest point of the hill.
It has an inner diameter of about 27 metres along the east-west (100°-280°) axis, and its walls are 4.5 metres thick at the entrance which is at the east (100°) end. The entrance is a gap in the wall and is 1.60 metres wide.
Today the walls aren't higher than 60 centimetres.
The interior has an uneven and rocky surface, and the excavations in 1937 revealed traces of inner buildings, rectangular houses with hearths, erected against the walls of the fort.

About 80 metres southeast there's the second fort, Carraig Aile 2.
